RAF OutwellThis is a featured page

Air Ministry Experimental Station constructed in 1938 to the south-east of Wisbech, Cambridgeshire.

Listed as an 'AMES Type X' station, though no offical records exist linking to either the Chain Home or the Chain Home Low radar systems nor does it appear in the Royal Air Force's archives. Most curiously it is mentioned in the MOD's records as being under the control of the Ionospheric Research Establishment, an agnecy which supposedly controls other sites across the British Isles regarded as 'military research stations'.

It remains unknown if the station is still operational or even what purpose it actually served.
