There are 307 children being held captive aboard the Wrath of God, but seven of them have come together to form an escape committee.

Hua Swee Yean
Female, 12 years old.
Swee Yean has assumed leadership of the escape committee almost without realizing it. She has natural leadership qualities and brings out the best in the others. Although she has no specialized knowledge of her own, she acts as a catalyst and formulates plans based on the knowledge of the others. Most of the children trust her implicitly and some — because of her family name — have taken to calling her Hua Mulan, after China’s legendary heroine. What no one realizes, including Swee Yean herself, is that Hua Mulan really existed and Hua Swee Yean is a direct descendent. Also another of Swee Yean’s ancestors was a companion of the Doctor and there are legends in the Hua family of a time traveller with a blue box.

Hua Jepoy
Male, 9 years old.
Swee Yean’s younger brother. Jepoy has proved himself very adept at opening locked doors and breaking into computer systems. He is also very nimble and can get into confined spaces where the older children would have difficulty.

Hua Allie
Female, 1 year old.
Swee Yean’s baby sister. At one year old little Allie doesn’t contribute a lot to the escape committee, except perhaps to remind the others what is at stake.

Chong Hon Fah
Male, 15 years old.
At fifteen Hon Fah, would have made the natural leader of the group. However he is wise enough to know that where as he would have made an adequate leader, Swee Yean makes a great one. Instead he has assumed the role of Swee Yean’s second in command, acting as Swee Yean’s muscle, enforcing her decisions on those rare occasions where there is dissent.

Chong Liwei
Male, 12 years old.
Hon Fah’s cousin. The skeptic of the group, Liwei resents Swee Yean assuming leadership and thinks that he would make a better leader. He often criticizes Swee Yean’s plans just for the sake of it, but some times his criticisms are valid and force Swee Yean to reappraise her plans accordingly.

Tan Delun
Male, 10 years old.
Delun is fairly practical, he as a reasonably extensive knowledge of Earth and Earth history as well as the progress of the Orion war and the disposition of the Terran fleet.

Phang Mee Fong
Female, 9 years old.
Mee Fong is shy and unassuming and feels uncomfortable in putting herself forward. She is obsessed with spacecraft in general and the Aurora class of space liners in particular. She had an extensive collection of spacecraft models at home as well as a VR simulation of an Aurora class space liner. She has an almost encyclopedic knowledge of the layout and capabilities of the Northern Empress.
